Why Your Business Should Use Eco-Friendly & Sustainable Packaging

June 21, 2022

As consumers become more aware of their impact on the environment, it’s up to business owners and consumers alike to choose sustainable packaging options where possible. It’s common for customers to want to know where their packaging is sourced from and it’s well received if they know you are using recycled, eco-friendly alternatives.

eCommerce businesses send out large amounts of packages each and every day and these travel across Australia and around the world. In recent times Australian businesses have seen an increase in customers ordering online, now preferring the convenience of shipping and shopping online. This has allowed many businesses the chance to offer their products to a wider audience, creating more packaging waste at the same time.

Custom shipping boxes offer a lot of benefits when it comes to the sustainability of your business. Not only do custom boxes allow you to achieve the perfect fit every time, lessening waste, it also allows for less product being created and therefore being recycled or thrown away. Lessen your environmental footprint, and lower shipping costs, by reducing the size of your packages and decreasing the amount of packaging supplies needed to protect your items. Read on for all our insights around sustainable packaging and custom boxes.

Benefits of Using Sustainable Packaging

Sustainability is on the minds of almost every business owner and consumer, as the world shifts focus to how we use and discard our waste.

Sustainable packaging can play a big role in creating brand awareness around your eco-friendly and environmentally conscious business. The most important part is how your changes can have a positive impact on the environment and empower your customers to make the best choices possible.

By offering products that are reusable, like corrugated cardboard boxes and bio-fill, you allow your customers the chance to reuse and recycle. You can even have a section on your website about all the different ways to reuse your items.

Eco-friendly packaging is often smaller, and more compact. This is because the smaller the box, the less materials necessary, the less waste. It also has a smaller environmental footprint as it travels, and requires less void fill or other packaging materials to keep your items safe. It is estimated that up to 40% of every parcel shipped is simply air, and custom boxes can help reduce this dramatically.

At Jetbox, our boxes are made using corrugated cardboard. This cardboard is super durable, while still being lightweight; perfect for your business shipping needs. We offer custom sizing to perfectly cater to the needs of your business, and to help you achieve your sustainability goals. Our boxes are available in white and brown, and come with no patterns or designs for maximum customizability. We understand that many businesses want a minimal look, and by eliminating the need for ink used for printing on your boxes, you can further decrease waste.

Why Eco-Friendly Packaging is Important for Businesses and Consumers Alike

Business owners go through a lot of packaging products, especially if they are shipping their items out every day, or every week. From boxes, to tape, to butchers paper and bubble wrap, there are many products that business owners rely on to send their products out to customers. Making small changes to sustainable packaging options over time can make a big difference, and it feels good to offer eco-friendly packaging with minimal environmental impact. However, there are some other benefits for business owners. By choosing a smaller, custom made box you can reduce shipping costs as well as your overall budget for packaging products such as bubble wrap as the need for them will lessen with smaller boxes.

Consumers like to know where their products, and their packaging, is being sourced. There is a moment of excitement when a new item arrives, and understanding that you can recycle or reuse the packaging is a much better feeling than having to throw away a ton of plastic.

Explaining How To Recycle Your Products for Maximum Effectiveness

It is important to note that when you make the switch to environmentally friendly products, your consumers may not know what to do with them. By writing out clear instructions on where they can be recycled, composted or reused, and how to do so, you can encourage your customers to do their part. A blog post on your website, or a simple note on recycled paper inside their package, can be enough to empower your customers to recycle and reuse the products you have carefully chosen.

How To Pack Your TV Box

We understand that packing TV’s without the original packaging can be a stressful task.

Every Jetbox TV will be supplied with more than enough bubble wrap to wrap any size TV!

To put your TV box together, follow these instructions:

  1. Please start by taping the bottom of the box – pre-fold the flaps to make it easier to close.

  2. Use a blanket to cover your TV before applying bubble wrap.

  3. Lay it down (if the manufacturer recommendations specify that you can) and wrap it in bubble horizontally.

  4. Then wrap again vertically ensuring the corners, front and back are covered well. Tape up the bubble so that it doesn’t come undone.

  5. You can then slide the TV into the box, make sure it fits snugly and close the box with some strong tape.

Bulky Item Delivery Terms & Conditions

Some of our products are large, heavy and bulky and require extra care or special shipping. If your order requires a forklift we will advise before delivery, and if no forklift is available upon delivery a surcharge will apply.

Bulky deliveries that require hand delivery (but no forklift) to the first floor or above and require stair or lift access will also be subject to a delivery surcharge. If you advise at checkout that your delivery is above the ground floor, we will be in touch regarding the surcharge. This surcharge is from $50 per pallet.

Over & Under Runs

Manufacturing processes require machinery to work at quite high speeds. During production, some sheets may be damaged and need to be replaced. In some instances, we cannot replace the sheets at that time and you will be met with a slightly lower Quantity than ordered. This amount will be credited to you.

In most cases though, there will be overruns, as the machinery cannot come to a complete stop in an instant – we require a gradual slow down, which will give us more cartons produced, than what are ordered. These overruns are payable by the client. And taking them also helps save on recycling, which is more sustainable and better for the Environment in the long term.

If you require EXACT Quantities, we may have to make some boxes in a different grade than ordered, to make up your order in the Exact Qty required. These requests will also Incur higher unit costs. This cannot be avoided, as we must consider the recycling processes and costs involved, in helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
