A box that opens as well as it ships.
Cosmetics, candles, skincare and gift sets mostly go in a mailer: a box that folds up by hand, closes with a tuck-in lid and looks finished without tape. People open it on a bench or on camera, so the way it opens matters as much as the way it travels.
The box we usually make for this is the die-cut mailer.
It is one piece of board. You fold it up, the side flaps tuck in and the lid closes over the front, so the customer sees a clean box with no tape on it. It holds its shape in the post and sits flat on a shelf before it is used.
If the product is heavy, or it ships by the pallet rather than one at a time, a regular carton is the better box. Describe what goes in it on the phone and we will tell you in a minute.
The size, the number and the board, in that order.
Measure the item or the tray it sits in, and add 5 to 10 mm each way for tissue, a card and room to lift it out. The sizes you type are internal sizes, so what you measure is what you get.
Order one first and check the fit and the print in your hands. Then order the number you need for the launch, which for most people is somewhere between twenty five and a hundred, and reorder when it sells. It is the same box every time, because we keep your size on file.
Most mailers go in our white single wall, so a printed logo sits clean on the lid and the box feels finished. Brown kraft single wall is the same box in a plainer coat, and some brands prefer that look.
A common starting point
A mailer at 320 x 240 x 120 mm internal fits most skincare sets, a pair of candles or a boxed gift with tissue around it. Open it in the calculator with these numbers already in, change anything you like, and the price is on the screen.
