Custom Boxes versus Stock Boxes

November 14, 2022

If you run an eCommerce business, or otherwise use boxes in your day-to-day operations, you have had to make the choice between custom boxes and stock boxes. Running a business that ships and stores items is so much more than simply choosing a box; but choosing the right corrugated cardboard box can make all the difference. So what is the difference between custom boxes and stock boxes, and which is the best option for you and your business? We understand that small businesses don’t always have the budget or the need for hundreds of boxes at a time, and this can be a deterrent when it comes to ordering custom boxes. At Jetbox, we offer small minimum order quantities (MOQs) to help make custom boxes an affordable and genuine option for all business owners. If you are a Melbourne or Victorian based business owner, then you need Jetbox’s high quality custom made boxes.

Custom Boxes versus Stock Boxes: What are the Main Differences

When we refer to stock boxes, we are talking about pre-made boxes you buy in stock sizes directly off the shelf. You have no say in the cardboard thickness, the design or the size – you simply go in and choose the box that is closest to what you need. You have to consider how much a stock box will cost to ship, as their sizing may not fit into the smallest, or cheapest, specifications for your chosen courier costing you more in shipping. Without the option to customise stock boxes to your needs, you are at risk of having to use up more packaging products and void fill – also adding to the overall cost per box. Consider that you get an extra large or extra small order, can your stock boxes cater to them without leaving excess room? Or maybe you need to use 2 boxes? Stock boxes also come with various patterns and designs that may misalign with or clash against your brand image.

Custom made boxes solve all of these issues. You choose the exact size and specifications, including design and cardboard thickness. Depending on your needs, you may need a Die Cut Gift Box or a Corner Cut Folder box. At Jetbox, our custom cardboard boxes are manufactured in Melbourne to the highest standards. Our boxes come without any printing or imagery, making it easy to add your own branding. Custom made boxes are designed to protect your items, and leave no excess space where products can move around and become damaged. If you have specific size needs to fit into a shipping courier’s specifications, we can also work around that with you. Jetbox offers sample runs and prototyping to help make your custom box dreams a reality – visit our website to find out more.

Why You Should Choose Custom Made Boxes for your Business

We wanted to highlight some of the main benefits that come with choosing custom made corrugated boxes for your small business:

Custom Made Boxes Are the Perfect Fit Every Time!

No more digging around to find a box that will fit; custom made boxes allow you to easily pack your products and protect them during transit. Each box is designed with your product in mind, personalised for your needs. You save on time, and on excess packing supplies. Talk about easy!

Custom Made Boxes can Save you Money!

Think of all the money spent on unused boxes, or on packaging supplies to fill empty spaces. Think also of all the stickers and other labels needed to cover up the branding on stock boxes. Custom made boxes are often more affordable than you might think, and they also streamline your packing process, saving you time – and as they say, time is money! Reduce shipping costs by designing your boxes with shipping parameters and prices in mind.

How To Pack Your TV Box

We understand that packing TV’s without the original packaging can be a stressful task.

Every Jetbox TV will be supplied with more than enough bubble wrap to wrap any size TV!

To put your TV box together, follow these instructions:

  1. Please start by taping the bottom of the box – pre-fold the flaps to make it easier to close.

  2. Use a blanket to cover your TV before applying bubble wrap.

  3. Lay it down (if the manufacturer recommendations specify that you can) and wrap it in bubble horizontally.

  4. Then wrap again vertically ensuring the corners, front and back are covered well. Tape up the bubble so that it doesn’t come undone.

  5. You can then slide the TV into the box, make sure it fits snugly and close the box with some strong tape.

Bulky Item Delivery Terms & Conditions

Some of our products are large, heavy and bulky and require extra care or special shipping. If your order requires a forklift we will advise before delivery, and if no forklift is available upon delivery a surcharge will apply.

Bulky deliveries that require hand delivery (but no forklift) to the first floor or above and require stair or lift access will also be subject to a delivery surcharge. If you advise at checkout that your delivery is above the ground floor, we will be in touch regarding the surcharge. This surcharge is from $50 per pallet.

Over & Under Runs

Manufacturing processes require machinery to work at quite high speeds. During production, some sheets may be damaged and need to be replaced. In some instances, we cannot replace the sheets at that time and you will be met with a slightly lower Quantity than ordered. This amount will be credited to you.

In most cases though, there will be overruns, as the machinery cannot come to a complete stop in an instant – we require a gradual slow down, which will give us more cartons produced, than what are ordered. These overruns are payable by the client. And taking them also helps save on recycling, which is more sustainable and better for the Environment in the long term.

If you require EXACT Quantities, we may have to make some boxes in a different grade than ordered, to make up your order in the Exact Qty required. These requests will also Incur higher unit costs. This cannot be avoided, as we must consider the recycling processes and costs involved, in helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
