There’s nothing better than receiving that package you’ve been anticipating! Seeing the mail arrive and opening it to find everything you ordered in perfect condition – nothing is quite like it. The world of eCommerce and online shopping has transformed the way Australians buy their goods, and shipping them safely across the country is now a priority for many small businesses.

Quality packaging boxes are the most important thing you can purchase to give your customers that all satisfying unboxing experience. Let us help you order your custom boxes with the below guide. Read on for everything you need to know about custom boxes!

Why You Should Choose A Custom Box

The way you ship your items matters. While I’m sure most business owners understand the importance of safe packaging, the boxes you choose are key in achieving a successful delivery every time. Packages can come under strain if they are tossed around, or put underneath other heavier boxes. In these moments, making the choice to invest in custom boxes pays off tenfold.

Custom boxes can be made in a variety of cardboard types and thicknesses, allowing you to choose the level of protection necessary for you. Custom boxes also provide a snug fit, leaving no space for your items to roll around and incur damage.

Consider the cost of postage! Smaller boxes custom made to fit your items means you might fall into a smaller box bracket and pay less for shipping. You also need less void fill, saving you money on packaging supplies.

Which Style of Box Should You Choose?

Did you know there are many different types of boxes? Jetbox offers custom boxes in the following types:

  • 5 Panel Folder – best suited for items that require extra care, our recommendation for small to medium businesses

Our website hosts images and information about all these box types. If you are still unsure, you can check out our custom box calculator and play around with different options and sizing, or contact us to speak to a professional!

What Size Box Do You Need?

Once you know what type of custom box you need, the next step is acquiring measurements! Gathering measurements for custom boxes is a little bit more complicated than simply measuring your item, but don’t worry – we have resources to help you!

See our blog on measuring a box for custom orders online here.

Generally it’s recommended to get boxes that fit your items snuggly, or if they are extra fragile leave enough room for extra packaging materials without being too big and roomy. The style of the box also plays a role in the size, as you may need to leave room for a bubble wrap layer or two in some instances. If you offer extra goodies in your packages make sure there is room for them also!

What Kind of Packaging Materials Do You Need?

To protect your items as best you can, you also need quality packaging materials. Bubble wrap, butchers paper, kraft paper and bio-fill are all common packaging materials used by eCommerce businesses. Each has their own use and benefits.

Jetbox offers a wide range of quality packaging materials, including Sancell bubble wrap. All of our products are available in small to large quantities so you can purchase an amount that suits you!

Bio-fill is a fantastic, environmentally friendly packaging material for keeping items padded during transit. Bubble wrap is reliable and reusable, and butchers paper is recyclable; all of these options make protecting your items easy. Depending on the size of your box and the nature of your product, you may even need two or more of the above products to thoroughly protect your items!

Don’t forget about customising your boxes with stickers, coloured tissue paper, written notes and more.

How To Pack Your TV Box

We understand that packing TV’s without the original packaging can be a stressful task.

Every Jetbox TV will be supplied with more than enough bubble wrap to wrap any size TV!

To put your TV box together, follow these instructions:

  1. Please start by taping the bottom of the box – pre-fold the flaps to make it easier to close.

  2. Use a blanket to cover your TV before applying bubble wrap.

  3. Lay it down (if the manufacturer recommendations specify that you can) and wrap it in bubble horizontally.

  4. Then wrap again vertically ensuring the corners, front and back are covered well. Tape up the bubble so that it doesn’t come undone.

  5. You can then slide the TV into the box, make sure it fits snugly and close the box with some strong tape.

Bulky Item Delivery Terms & Conditions

Some of our products are large, heavy and bulky and require extra care or special shipping. If your order requires a forklift we will advise before delivery, and if no forklift is available upon delivery a surcharge will apply.

Bulky deliveries that require hand delivery (but no forklift) to the first floor or above and require stair or lift access will also be subject to a delivery surcharge. If you advise at checkout that your delivery is above the ground floor, we will be in touch regarding the surcharge. This surcharge is from $50 per pallet.

Over & Under Runs

Manufacturing processes require machinery to work at quite high speeds. During production, some sheets may be damaged and need to be replaced. In some instances, we cannot replace the sheets at that time and you will be met with a slightly lower Quantity than ordered. This amount will be credited to you.

In most cases though, there will be overruns, as the machinery cannot come to a complete stop in an instant – we require a gradual slow down, which will give us more cartons produced, than what are ordered. These overruns are payable by the client. And taking them also helps save on recycling, which is more sustainable and better for the Environment in the long term.

If you require EXACT Quantities, we may have to make some boxes in a different grade than ordered, to make up your order in the Exact Qty required. These requests will also Incur higher unit costs. This cannot be avoided, as we must consider the recycling processes and costs involved, in helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
